Dinsmore Remembers Andrew K. Cherney

March 13, 2017News Releases
We are saddened to announce the loss of one of Dinsmore & Shohl’s own. Andrew K. Cherney passed away March 9.

Andy was a partner in Dinsmore’s Dayton office and practiced for over 40 years handling complex and transactional corporate and commercial finance legal matters for many clients.

Having worked with him for over 30 years, Fred Caspar commented, “No one was better. Andy was a truly special and gifted attorney and had the respect of his clients.” Fred is the office managing partner in Dayton.

Andy trained many young lawyers during his career as they learned to navigate corporate law.

“In typical New York fashion, Andy would say, ‘Here it is. Just do it,’” Fred added. “Then he would review the work and make instructive and critical comments along the way to aid in that associate’s total development as a practicing corporate attorney.” Fred believes Andy’s knowledge and training method resulted in better lawyers.

“Through the years Andy made a positive impact on and earned the respect of many young – and now not-so-young – attorneys who worked for, with and against him,” Fred said. “He was a friend of mine and many others at Dinsmore, and he will be missed.”

Andy’s loss is felt throughout the firm.
