Dinsmore & Shohl is pleased to announce that Ben F. Wells has been named Managing Partner of the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. Wells assumes the role from Joseph H. Terry, who has been Managing Partner since the office opened in 2011. Terry will remain active in the firm as a Partner in the Lexington, Kentucky Office.
“I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished in opening this office in D.C. and know Ben will keep the momentum going. He has been with us from the beginning traveling back and forth from Cincinnati. He knows the firm, and I think he’ll do a great job,” said Terry.
Wells has been with Dinsmore for more than 20 years. In his new role, he will oversee eight attorneys and two professionals. Although Wells will spend most of his time in Washington, he plans to continue to serve his clients in Cincinnati and elsewhere across the country.
“I am excited about the opportunity. The Washington office is an important resource for our clients and an opportunity to provide new services and expand our presence on the East Coast,” said Wells. “We realize that what happens in Washington affects our clients throughout the rest of the country, and that’s why it’s important for the firm to have a presence here.”
Wells is a Partner in the Corporate Department and is Chair of the firm's Tax, Benefits and Wealth Planning Practice Group. He also heads the firm's Fringe Benefits Committee. Wells advises and counsels clients on a range of issues relating to succession planning, tax, employee benefits and executive compensation. He is also a nationally recognized authority on employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs), and is a frequent author and lecturer on ESOP issues.
