Dawne McKenna Parrish is a member of the Compensation and Benefits Practice Group in the Corporate Department. Dawne's practice serves a diverse client base including private and publicly-held companies, professional service corporations, and state and local governmental entities. Dawne has extensive experience in the design, preparation and implementation of health, welfare and fringe benefit plans (including health reimbursement arrangements, cafeteria plans, health savings accounts, and flexible spending account plans); qualified retirement plans (including profit sharing, 401(k) and defined benefit plans) and non-qualified deferred compensation plans. Dawne provides compliance advice with respect to the Internal Revenue Code, ERISA, PHSA, HIPAA, COBRA, and applicable state laws as they apply to pension and welfare benefit plans. Dawne's practice also includes advising employers and plan sponsors with PPACA (health care reform) compliance. Dawne represents clients before the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Labor. Dawne's practice also includes advising clients on employee benefit issues related to corporate transactions and ERISA litigation.
In addition to her employee benefits practice, Dawne also advises employers regarding compliance with the FMLA, ADA, FLSA, USERRA and Medicare secondary payer legislation. She also negotiates and drafts employment contracts, severance agreements, non-compete agreements and employee handbooks.
Prior to joining Dinsmore & Shohl, Dawne was associated with The Kroger Co. and The Western and Southern Life Insurance Company in Cincinnati, Ohio where her practice focused on a variety of areas including employee benefits, employment law, commercial transactions, investment adviser, investment company and securities compliance, corporate governance and insurance law.
