It is with great sadness that the law firm of Dinsmore & Shohl LLP reports the passing of partner, Barbara Schwartz Bromberg. Barbara passed away of complications related to a long illness on Friday, January 30. At the time of her death, she was attending the NIC Foundation Institute for Greek Advancement in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, where she was a scheduled presenter.
Barbara served two stints with Dinsmore & Shohl, her first one commencing in the fall of 1967 and her most recent one starting in 2002. Barbara was a gifted attorney who served a wide ranging clientele where she enjoyed a national reputation and represented all types of tax exempt organizations, including museums, private foundations, public charities, national trade associations, think tanks, and national fraternal organizations and their related entities. Barbara was also a well-known national speaker and the author of a regular tax column published in “Fraternal Law.”
In November 1995, Barbara was featured in “Cincinnati Magazine” as one of the top 50 attorneys in the city. In 1996, Barbara was the recipient of the Cincinnati Bar Association’s Trustees’ Award. She was a member of the Internal Revenue Service Commissioner’s Exempt Organizations Advisory Group and also was a past president of the Cincinnati Bar Foundation.
Barbara will be greatly missed by all who knew and worked with her.
