Drawing on our extensive experience working with owners, breeders, racetracks and account wagering companies, our team brings a thorough knowledge of the sport horse, thoroughbred and standardbred equine industry to the table, enabling them to anticipate challenges and steer our clients toward solutions.
Our team is strongly-rooted in the equine industry, featuring attorneys who have helped clients in a variety of matters, including purchase and sale of Kentucky Derby Winners and Grand Prix show-jumpers, syndication and sale of stallions, sport horses and other bloodstock interests, the formation and structure of racing partnerships, the negotiating and drafting of domestic and international simulcast agreements, the establishment and licensing of account wagering companies, and the tax planning, passive and hobby loss audits, and acquisition and sale of commercial horse farms. We also have assisted clients with account wagering licenses, media contracts, merchandising, import and export matters, and litigation of all types, including racing commission and United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) hearings.
Our work extends beyond the racetrack and show ring, as our attorneys are frequent contributors to various publications and educational forums, including Blood-Horse Magazine, Sport Horse Journals, Business Lexington and have been quoted in The New York Times, the Toronto Globe & Mail, The Blood-Horse, the Thoroughbred Times, and the Lexington Herald-Leader. Our team also features the chair of the National Equine Law Conference and an Adjunct Professor of Equine Law at the University of Kentucky College of Law.
