Laura D’Angelo and Kerry Irwin, attorneys in Dinsmore’s Lexington, Kentucky office, gave a presentation at the University of Kentucky College of Law on the legality of daily fantasy sports. The presentation, sponsored by the Sports & Entertainment Law Society, focused on current developments in the regulation of daily fantasy sports, including a proposal by the Massachusetts Attorney General to enact regulations governing daily fantasy sports operators and the litigation between the New York Attorney General and two of the major DFS operators, FanDuel and DraftKings, over the New York AG’s allegations that daily fantasy sports constitute gambling under New York law. Laura and Kerry focus a significant portion of their practice on gaming law and have been on the forefront of legal issues involving daily fantasy sports, having written scholarly articles on the topic over the past few years and having counseled clients on this constantly evolving regulatory front.
