Helana Darrow is a member of the Corporate Department and practices in the Compensation & Benefits Practice Group. Helana has extensive experience in all aspects of executive compensation and employee benefits including the design, drafting and operation of employee benefits plans. She serves a diverse client base spanning the health care, consumer products, retail, natural resources and information technology industries. Her clients range from Fortune 50 companies and middle-market enterprises to not-for-profit organizations and public sector entities throughout Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky.
Helana's practice includes advising clients on qualified retirement plans including, profit sharing plans, 401(k) plans, 403(b) plans and defined benefit plans; health and welfare benefit plans; fringe benefits; executive compensation plans; nonqualifed deferred compensation plans; and equity compensation plans.
Her experience includes advising clients on employee benefit issues related to corporate transactions, advising clients on ERISA litigation and drafting and negotiating executive compensation arrangements. Helana's practice also includes counseling clients on the design, implementation, administration, termination, and legal compliance of employee benefits plans under the Internal Revenue Code, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, PHSA and applicable state laws. Helana represents clients before the Internal Revenue Service, the Department of Labor and the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation.
In addition, Helana serves as Chair of the firm's Professional Women's Group and leads Dinsmore & Shohl's Mentoring Program. She is a member of the Professional Development Committee, a member of the Diversity Committee and a member of the Fringe Benefit Committee.
