Joel Cloud is a member in the Intellectual Property Department. Joel counsels clients on matters related to the protection of intellectual property through patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. He is experienced in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and worldwide through the World Intellectual Property Organization and foreign associates. He also has experience researching and investigating various patent issues, including patentability, infringement, and validity. Joel's core technologies include the chemical, biochemical, biomedical, and mechanical arts.
Joel prepares and prosecutes trademark applications worldwide, performs trademark clearance searches, and researches and investigates various trademark issues, including registrability and infringement.
He also counsels clients on intellectual property-related transactions, including preparing and negotiating licenses, assignments, and technology transfer, development, and collaboration agreements. Additional experience includes global sourcing agreements, software development agreements, software licenses, and government contracts involving intellectual property.
