Michael Adams is a partner in the Government Relations Practice Group and brings a wealth of experience in political, governmental and constitutional law to the firm. His Political Law practice focuses on counseling and representing candidates, PACs, issue groups, donors and political consultants, in both federal and state elections. He also counsels clients in other federal and state constitutional and regulatory matters.
Michael previously served as in-house General Counsel of the Republican Governors Association (RGA), and continues to serve as General Counsel from Dinsmore. In that role, he has managed compliance and litigation at one of the nation’s foremost political organizations, and guided its efforts to elect Republican governors in the 50 states over nine annual election cycles. Additionally, he has consulted with governors, staff and donors to ensure compliance with gift, ethics and pay-to-play laws. He also has counseled the Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA), advising on similar issues.
Prior to joining the RGA, Michael served at the U.S. Department of Justice as Deputy Chief Privacy & Civil Liberties Officer and Counsel to the Deputy Attorney General. From 2004 to 2006, he served as Deputy General Counsel to Kentucky Governor Ernie Fletcher. His knowledge gained from experience at senior levels of state and federal government and national politics provides significant value to the firm’s clients.
