Michael helps clients resolve business and commercial disputes of all shapes and sizes. While he has handled matters in virtually all major areas of dispute resolution and litigation, his primary areas of practice are business and commercial litigation, estate and trust litigation, and healthcare law. Michael’s experience enables him to understand quickly each client’s particular needs and develop a strategy that meets those needs. He brings a calm, steady approach to the matters that he handles, and he favors the most efficient resolution to a client’s legal issue.

In his business and commercial litigation practice, Michael advises clients regarding matters involving breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, noncompetition agreements and other restrictive covenants, partnership and LLC disputes, closely-held companies, shareholder derivative litigation, fraud, trade secrets, professional liability, insurance coverage, and class actions.

In estate and trust litigation, Michael handles matters including breach of trust, breach of fiduciary duty, and investment negligence. He represents fiduciaries, both institutional and non-institutional, as well as beneficiaries.

In the healthcare context, Michael regularly advises physicians and physician groups regarding a variety of business, ownership, and employment matters. He assists physicians in regulatory matters, medical staff proceedings, and with professional liability.

Michael has significant jury trial and bench trial experience, in both state and federal court. He has also argued several cases before the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

As part of his deep litigation background, Michael has handled numerous other matters involving civil rights litigation, employment litigation, products liability, antitrust law, civil RICO, construction litigation, and criminal law.
