Michael Newman, a partner in Dinsmore & Shohl's Cincinnati office and a member of the Cincinnati Bar Association's Board of Trustees, was recently appointed by the national president of the Federal Bar Association (FBA) to the FBA's national Task Force on Diversity. Mr. Newman is one of only two attorneys in private practice throughout the U.S., and the only attorney from within the Sixth Circuit, appointed to serve on the seven-member Task Force. The Task Force, to be chaired by the Honorable Donovan Frank, a United States District Judge from the District of Minnesota, will examine ways in which diversity can continue to be fostered in the FBA.
Mr. Newman is the chair of the firm's Labor & Employment Appellate Practice Group. In addition, he currently serves on Dinsmore & Shohl's Diversity Committee, and previously served as secretary of the CBA-BLAC Roundtable. He was elected a Sixth Circuit vice president for the FBA in 2006, and re-elected in 2008.
The Federal Bar Association consists of more than 16,000 practitioners and 900 members of the federal judiciary throughout all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
