Dinsmore & Shohl’s Harvey Cohen named Vice Chair of the IBA’s Closely Held and Growing Business Enterprises Committee

Dinsmore & Shohl’s Harvey Cohen has named Vice Chair of the International Bar Association’s (IBA) Closely Held and Growing Business Enterprises Committee.

The mission of the Closely Held and Growing Business Enterprises Committee is to address issues related to traditional, angel, venture capital and private equity financing as well as other strategic and financial transactions that startups, owner-managed, closely held and family businesses typically face. The committee consists of more than 750 lawyers worldwide. As Vice-Chair, Cohen is responsible for assisting other senior officers to discharge all committee duties and to plan all seminars, committee retreats, panels and committee meetings along with the choice of topics and expert presenters.

Cohen is a very active member of the IBA, recently serving on an Anti- Corruption panel at the IBA’s Latin American Regional Forum Conference in Uruguay. That panel addressed issues for companies doing business in Latin America such as avoiding corruption, civil and criminal penalties and cooperation among countries’ enforcement agencies.

Cohen also serves on the IBA’s Law Firm Management Committee and is also a member of the IBA’s Bar Issues Commission and the IBA Council, which serves as the member governing body of the IBA. The IBA is the world’s leading organization of international legal practitioners, counting more than 50,000 attorneys and 200 bar associations among its members.

At Dinsmore, Cohen practices corporate law encompassing nearly every facet of domestic and international business. He routinely represents outbound U.S. businesses and inbound non-U.S.-owned entities. He chairs the firm’s International Business Practice Group and is the Co-Chair Emeritus of ALFA® International’s International Law Practice Group.
