Matthew J. Miller Joins Dinsmore’s Chicago Office

Dinsmore & Shohl welcomes its 10th attorney to the firm’s Chicago office. Matthew J. Miller joins the firm’s Finance Department as a Partner of Counsel.

Mr. Miller’s practice centers on serving as bond counsel for state and local government entities. He has served as bond counsel on more than 100 financings aggregating approximately $2 billion. These financings have included various short-term and long-term general obligation financings, revenue financings, working cash financings, refunding transactions, and special obligation financings for clients such as the State of Illinois, Cook County, the Regional Transportation Authority and various other state agencies, counties, cities, villages, school districts, and park districts.

Mr. Miller has also spent significant time advising government entities in connection with economic development projects and public-private partnerships in connection with residential and commercial development utilizing tax increment financing districts and other economic development programs.

Prior to joining Dinsmore, Mr. Miller practiced at Chapman and Culter LLP in Chicago and Squire, Sanders & Dempsey L.L.P. in Columbus, Ohio. He earned his J.D. from Capital University Law School, received a Master’s Degree from Ohio University and received a B.A. from Ashland University. Mr. Miller is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers.

Dinsmore acquired the Chicago office in the Peck Shaffer & Williams merger in March. Since the spring, nine attorneys have joined that location. The office recently moved to a larger space in the Franklin Center to accommodate the rapid growth.
