Penina K. Lieber Appointed to the American Bar Association Governance Committee

Dinsmore & Shohl LLP’s Penina K. Lieber has been appointed to the Governance Committee of the American Bar Association (ABA) Board of Governors.

Lieber represents District 3 in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The ABA Board of Governors is a 44-member panel that has the authority to speak for the ABA and develops specific plans of action for the association.

Lieber was reappointed as liaison to three standing committees of the ABA: the Standing Committee on Law and National Security, the Standing Committee on Ethics and Professional Responsibility and the Forum on Affordable Housing.

A Partner in the Pittsburgh office, Lieber represents nonprofit organizations in a wide variety of matters, including state and federal tax exemptions, charitable trust litigation, corporate restructuring and governance, employment, financing and public-private partnerships. She is an approved Mediator and Early Neutral Evaluator in the Alternative Dispute Resolution Program of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. Lieber has published three books on legal issues facing nonprofits and has been a featured speaker at many national conferences.

Lieber was appointed by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania to the Pennsylvania IOLTA Board and Member of the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. She is the Immediate Past President of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and a member of the American Law Institute (ALI). Lieber is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, teaching courses in nonprofit and tax-exempt law. She was a Woodrow Wilson Fellow at Harvard University and earned her J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
