William Sherman is a Partner in the Litigation Department. As a former assistant prosecutor for Butler County, Ohio, William brings extensive trial experience to his practice. He is involved with the firm's defense of mass tort class action suits with emphasis on product liability defense. As such, he has participated in and managed litigation in multiple states while the firm was national counsel for Dow Corning in the "Breast Implant Litigation," Brown & Williamson in the "Tobacco Litigation" and Rugby Laboratories in the "Fen-phen Litigation." William is part of the firm's team defending Toyota in the multiple class action suits filed in Federal and state courts in Ohio and Kentucky for sudden unintended acceleration. William has also defended product actions on behalf of Procter & Gamble (Toxic Shock), GE Health Care, and Electric Insurance. He's involved in the firm's representation of motor vehicle manufacturers and distributors in dealer protest litigation, as well as warranty and consumer sales practice actions.
Most recently, William has become part of the firms growing patent litigation practice. He is currently defending a multinational client in a patent infringement case pending in the US District Court Middle District of Florida.
The firm utilizes William's vast trial experience in a variety of cases where trial seems likely. As such, he has successfully litigated cases in areas of patent infringement, product liability, construction, automobile warranty, employment discrimination and complex commercial litigation.
