Dinsmore Earns High Marks for Litigation

November 7, 2016News Releases
Dinsmore & Shohl LLP earns top tier ranking from clients for its litigation services, according to BTI Consulting Group’s Litigation Outlook 2017. Corporate counsel rank Dinsmore in the top 15 percent of law firms for commercial and employment litigation. Clients highlighted the firm’s creative approach to serving their needs and being efficient with their time and resources.

“Dinsmore has been our sole labor and employment counsel for the past 14 years, because they consistently deliver and have my full confidence,” said David Beck, executive vice president and chief legal officer for Golden Living. “Dinsmore attorneys understand what I want, what I need and know the company well. They have substantive knowledge and provide early analysis on our cases. I know they have it covered, so I am able to focus on our mission of providing quality senior health care.”

Golden Living is one of the largest nursing home and rehabilitative services providers and has a workforce of about 40,000. Beck says the size generates a lot of employment issues, and the current regulatory environment has created more scrutiny. Companies are exposed to litigation because technical issues can arise in form documents. The ripple effect of increased regulatory compliance is impacting businesses across the board. The BTI Litigation Outlook report found companies expect to increase spending on employment and class action cases in 2017. With a large volume of cases, Chuck Roesch, Dinsmore’s Labor and Employment Department chair, says open communication is essential.

“It’s not just addressing current legal needs. It’s providing the guidance with the long-term in mind. At times, an early settlement is the best option. Other times, it’s not. If this issue is important to the company, we need to take a stand, and that’s when we litigate. We treat them like an extremely close partner and guard their interests, because we are invested as well,” said Roesch.

The BTI report also shows “bet-the-company” litigation has steadily increased year-to-year and corporate counsel turn to the law firms handling their everyday litigation matters when faced with complex cases. Dinsmore stood out among other firms for commercial litigation based on its ability to handle high-stakes matters and commercial disputes. With over 250 litigators, the firm’s deep bench provides local knowledge of court systems throughout the country and real-world knowledge in business, finance, medicine, science and engineering.

“Regardless of how the case evolves, our clients know we have their legal needs covered. We counsel them to manage risk early on, but we are also willing to step up to try cases when the need arises. The level of our depth and experience provides them with peace of mind in the often unpredictable realm of litigation,” said Brian Sullivan, Dinsmore’s Litigation Department chair.
