Greg helps employers in health care and a wide range of other industries navigate the complex maze of ever-changing laws and regulations that impact their workforce. He has a depth of experience with laws relating to discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblowing, reasonable accommodation, leave rights, compensation, reductions in force, substance abuse, non-compete agreements, severance agreements, employee medical conditions, and other matters that arise in connection with employment and independent contractor relationships.
He focuses on the practical as well as the legal. As a business owner, Greg has been directly involved with hiring, training, evaluating, counseling, and terminating employees. This practical experience proves invaluable when he provides day-to-day counsel to clients, trains management teams, negotiates contracts, helps resolve disputes, and prepares documents. Greg believes in keeping things simple whenever possible. He understands that complicated legal documents cannot always be avoided, especially in heavily regulated industries. However, he also understands that personnel policies, counseling documents, and written agreements with employees do not always require heavy doses of “legalese” to be effective and hold up in court.
Greg is committed to being proactive. Drawing on his experience as a legal counselor, advocate, and business owner, he helps businesses resolve workforce challenges before they evolve into expensive litigation. When it comes to concerns about job performance or attendance, Greg partners with employers in an effort to salvage the relationship or structure a defensible separation. Sometimes litigation cannot be avoided. When that occurs, he tries to understand the client’s goals at the earliest stages to assist with effective strategy development and budgeting.
Greg also enjoys teaching and training. He coaches leadership teams, managers, and supervisors; presents at seminars that provide attorneys and human resources professionals with professional education credits; and mentors attorneys within the firm.
