As a registered patent attorney, John focuses his practice on patent law. He educates clients on the patent prosecution process, evaluates invention disclosures for patentability in light of the relevant technology and legal landscape, drafts and files patent applications, and advises clients regarding material issues and strategic options throughout the prosecution process, as well as the appeal process. He also assists clients with the management and development of strategic patent portfolios and has experience supporting patent prosecution in foreign jurisdictions.
Prior to joining Dinsmore, John practiced for more than three years as a patent attorney with a Pittsburgh-based international law firm. He also served the public for more than seven years as a patent examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office. John strives to apply the insights gained through such experiences to efficiently and effectively serve his current clients.
