Dinsmore & Shohl LLP has welcomed partner of counsel Michelle Duncan to its Louisville office, where she will practice with the firm’s Labor & Employment Department. She is the fourth new partner in the office this month, following the promotion of three former associates to begin 2021.

She joins after 12 years as a trial attorney with a Kentucky insurance defense firm, including four as a partner, where she represented businesses and professionals in complex civil litigation in a range of matters, including personal injury, premises liability, professional liability and employment litigation.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, her clients have been calling with many questions about how to comply with pandemic-related legislation and regulations that affect business operations.

“They want to know how they can effectively manage social distancing and health-related directives, and generally how to continue their work in light of the pandemic,” Duncan said.

With Dinsmore’s 100-plus labor and employment attorneys nationwide and 17 in Louisville, she said she is excited to be on a team that can deftly answer all of those questions.

“Dinsmore is an excellent firm. It has a large local and national footprint, as well as a phenomenal group of attorneys who are able to provide clients with diverse and comprehensive legal guidance,” Duncan said. “I really look forward to working with them.”

Dinsmore firm leadership is equally excited for her arrival. Louisville Office Managing Partner Kenyon Meyer called Duncan a “talented litigator,” and Labor & Employment Department Chair Allison Goico said she is a “great asset to the team.”

Duncan is also a member of Citizens for Better Judges, a committee that, according to its website, seeks to “improve the quality of the judiciary by promoting the election of only the most qualified judicial candidates.”

“This is so important right now, given our current climate,” Duncan said. “We need diversity on the bench, candidates that are extremely qualified and who have substantive knowledge and real trial experience.”

Duncan earned her J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law and her BBA in business management and finance from the University of Kentucky.
