Matthew focuses his practice on intellectual property law, specifically trademarks, trade secrets, trade dress and copyrights. He works with clients throughout the entire IP management process, from the initial consultation regarding the viability of their proposed marks, to preparing trademark applications both domestically and internationally for clients in fields ranging from the food and beverage industry to large parts manufacturers to technology companies to sports and entertainment.
He regularly handles all facets of the IP registration process from counseling to prosecution, to enforcement and maintenance. His work includes drafting IP assignments and cooperative agreements, responding to office actions, drafting and arguing appeals to the Trademark Trial and Appeals Board (the “TTAB”), and drafting cease and desist letters and Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (“UDRP”) take-down notices.
Matthew has extensive experience drafting and negotiating a wide variety of agreements related to intellectual property and technology, including intercompany intellectual property license agreements, trademark licenses, software licenses, cloud computing agreements, joint development agreements, intellectual property acquisition agreements, and non-disclosure agreements. In fact, he is a member of the firm’s Commercial Contracts team.
With his JD/MBA background, Matthew also has the experience and knowledge to help his business clients achieve their ultimate goals. He has overseen cases dealing with complex commercial disputes including local and national businesses, TROs, non-compete agreements, and breaches of fiduciary duty.
