Biography

A third generation attorney in Washtenaw County, Matt’s practice is broadly focused on commercial litigation, with an emphasis on insurance coverage. He also has broad experience handling product liability cases, toxic tort claims, and subrogation recovery disputes.

Matt loves litigating because he gets to put his interpersonal skills to work assisting clients, strategizing with fellow Dinsmore attorneys, and dealing with opposing counsels, judges, court personnel, and witnesses. Matt understands each client has individual needs and disposing of a matter through trial may not always be the best option. His clients appreciate his experience, which enables him to identify the best, individualized approach for each and every case.

His career includes work at a highly regarded firm in Ann Arbor and, more recently, two national firms in Chicago. Matt and his family returned to Ann Arbor to be near relatives and friends. He is currently licensed in Michigan and Illinois and has appeared before state and federal trial courts throughout the Midwest. He has also argued successfully before the Michigan Court of Appeals.

Matt obtained his law degree with cum laude distinction from Michigan State University, where he received a 50 percent merit scholarship and was a member of the Appellate Moot Court Board. He is committed to non-profit and pro bono work, currently volunteering his time as a member of the Washtenaw County United Way’s Emerging Philanthropists group.
