Dinsmore & Shohl LLP’s Christian Gonzalez has been selected for the 2016 Fellows Program of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD), a national organization made up of the legal profession’s top general counsel and managing partners.

Gonzalez joins more than 200 attorneys as part of the 2016 LCLD Fellows, which is the largest class in the program’s history. Launched in 2011, the LCLD Fellows program aims to increase diversity at the leadership levels of the nation’s law firms and corporate legal departments. Over the course of the year-long program, participants will be challenged to build relationships that enhance professional development, participate in corporate learning experiences, and sharpen leadership skills. Gonzalez recently attended his first LCLD Fellows event.

“It was impressive to see such a mix of diversity and to see the variety of companies represented in my Fellows class. Despite coming from different facets of law, we all share similar struggles in our career. It was inspiring and refreshing to see such openness and the collegial atmosphere of this event,” said Gonzalez.

In addition to LCLD, Gonzalez is also active in the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA). He serves on the Board of Governors and as President of HNBA’s Region 10 that represents Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee.

A member of Dinsmore’s Corporate Department, Gonzalez’s practice focuses on corporate, banking and securities law, including mergers and acquisitions, federal securities law compliance, public and private stock offerings, capital formation, regulatory compliance, and general corporate governance matters.

Gonzalez has extensive and significant experience servicing financial sector clients ranging from multi-billion dollar public financial institutions to community banks and thrifts. He counsels financial institutions in strategic growth planning, holding company formation, M&A transactions and other critical situations and has a broad range of experience in complex transactional, securities, regulatory, governance and compliance matters impacting this highly regulated and ever-evolving sector. Gonzalez has also been a resource for the firm’s leadership covering the impact of Dodd-Frank Act regulations on the firm’s financial sector clients.

Prior to joining Dinsmore, Gonzalez served as General Counsel for The Ohio Division of Financial Institutions working on various regulatory and corporate matters pertaining to state-chartered financial institutions. He earned his J.D. from the New York Law School.
