Dinsmore Announces 8 New Partners

Dinsmore & Shohl is pleased to announce eight attorneys have been named Partner. Matthew S. Arend, Robert M. Croft, Allan R. Daily, Allison L. Goico, Nicholaus R. Rericha, Robert C. Rives, IV, Elizabeth A. Simmons and Randal M. Whitlatch were elected to partnership effective January 1, 2015.

Matthew S. Arend, (Cincinnati, OH)
Matt is a member of the Health Care Practice Group, focusing his practice on all aspects of federal and state privacy and data security issues, including HIPAA compliance, breach analyses, and governance. He also routinely advises clients on compliance with federal and state anti-kickback laws, Stark law, Sunshine Act, Medicare Secondary Payer laws, pharmaceutical marketing rules and other regulatory matters. Additionally, his thorough knowledge of the healthcare arena enables him to counsel clients through audits and investigations, as well as providing training and strategic planning counseling.

Matt also handles business and fiduciary litigation matters at the trial court and appellate levels, with an emphasis on contract disputes; trade secret and non-compete agreements; complex litigation and class action matters; the defense of health care providers and manufacturers; and general health care law. Matt also has significant experience in defending health care clients in medical negligence matters, health care contracting, federal False Claims Act qui tam and other litigation involving claims of health care program fraud and abuse.

Robert M. Croft, Jr. (Louisville, KY)
Robert is a member of the Product Liability and Toxic Tort Practice Groups. He concentrates his practice in the areas of product and premises liability, insurance coverage issues and business litigation. Robert has handled a variety of premises liability, automotive, industrial equipment, recreational products, medical products and toxic exposure matters. Robert has obtained a number of summary judgments and dismissals on behalf of the retail stores and manufacturers he represents and has won a number of appeals before the Kentucky Court of Appeals and Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Allan R. Daily (Cincinnati, OH)
Allan is a member of the Corporate Department. Allan focuses his practice on corporate law, including mergers and acquisitions, strategic transactions and general corporate governance and organizational matters. He has provided representation to technology focused emerging growth companies, advising them during their entire corporate life cycle, and has experience representing both companies and venture capital firms in private equity and debt financings.

Allan began his career in the San Francisco Bay Area working primarily with emerging companies in Silicon Valley. He served as the General Counsel for Sproost, Inc., handling all legal matters and providing strategic business advice.

Allison L. Goico (Cincinnati, OH)
Allison's practice focuses on litigation and counseling with an emphasis on management-side (both private and public employers) employment discrimination, wage and hour, non-competes and leave laws. She regularly appears before both state and federal courts as well as administrative agencies and has experience with arbitrations under collective bargaining agreements. Allison defends employers against charges filed with the EEOC and state and local fair employment agencies, and has experience defending cases brought by the EEOC as a litigant. In addition, she regularly counsels employers on personnel matters arising under the ADEA, FMLA and other state and federal employment laws. Allison also has significant experience working with staffing companies and is familiar with the unique issues posed to employers in the staffing industry.

Nicholaus R. Rericha (Cincinnati, OH)
Nick is a member of the Intellectual Property Department, focusing his practice on patent preparation and patent prosecution, as well as invalidity and non-infringement opinions. His practice includes a wide variety of technological areas including robotics, material processing, optics, circuit design, control systems, software, computer science, automotive, power semiconductors, nanotechnology, among others. In addition, Nick's practice also includes e-commerce, privacy and licensing. Prior to becoming an attorney, Nick was an electrical engineer at TRW in Elyria, Ohio and the Nordson Corporation in Amherst, Ohio.

Robert C. Rives, IV (Louisville, KY)
Bobby counsels employers in all aspects of employment law including training, conducting investigations, defending administrative charges and litigation matters and appeals before state and federal courts throughout Kentucky as well as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Kentucky Commission on Human Rights. Bobby is experienced in handling issues involving Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Kentucky Civil Rights Act, and many other state and federal statutes and regulations governing employment disputes.

Bobby also regularly represents clients in a variety of civil litigation matters including claims of product liability, personal injury, negligence, premises liability, professional malpractice, automobile liability and nursing home litigation. He has successfully handled jury and bench trials in Kentucky and Indiana. Bobby represents a wide range of clients including all types of employers, individuals, retail and restaurant businesses, medical and legal professionals, municipal entities and insurance companies. He is active in his community through Board service and charitable work. Bobby also serves on the Firm’s Professional Development Committee.

Elizabeth A. Simmons (Cincinnati, OH)
Libby is an acknowledged leader in the legal community. Having started her career as an assistant prosecuting attorney, more recently she was named a Rising Star by the YWCA of Greater Cincinnati. Libby concentrates on management side employment litigation in her practice. She also has deep experience in business counseling. While she enjoys working with all types of business, she has particular insight into the issues facing hospitality industry.

Randal M. Whitlatch (Pittsburgh, PA)
Randy is a commercial litigator with extensive experience in a range of practice areas, including mass toxic tort and products liability; insurance coverage and extra-contractual litigation; and internal and external business disputes. In his litigation practice, Randy has appeared in several state and federal courts, both trial and appellate. Randy has advised clients in both litigation and non-litigation matters alike from several industries, including pharmaceutical, medical device and chemical companies; healthcare providers ranging from large health systems to individual physicians; and oil, gas and mineral companies among others. Randy has also developed a proficiency in class action litigation as well as in electronic discovery issues, serving on Dinsmore’s e-discovery practice group.
