Dinsmore Receives High Marks for Bond Counsel in 2014

Dinsmore & Shohl received high marks for bond counsel deals in 2014, according to the annual ratings compiled by Thomson Reuters. Completing 163 bond counsel transactions nationally, Dinsmore also ranked third for bond counsel in Thomson Reuters’ Mideast region, comprised of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia and Wisconsin with 129 transactions.

Dinsmore continued to demonstrate its dominance, garnering top listing in a number of states.

  • Ranked 1st in Ohio for total volume of transactions ($2.861 Billion) and 1st for the number of deals
  • Ranked 1st in Kentucky for total volume of transactions ($1.003 Billion) and 2nd for the number of deals
  • Ranked 1st in Pennsylvania for the number of deals and 3rd for total volume of transactions ($662.3 million)

“The economy continued its recovery in 2014, leading to more development across the board. We felt the impact and directly saw the result in the number of deals we completed,” said Tom Wilson, Dinsmore Finance Department Chair. “We anticipate another strong year, but 2015 will be interesting. It remains to be seen how new regulations, like the MCDC Initiative, play out and if interest rates will continue to remain low."

Dinsmore also ranked highly in many of the sub-categories that Thomson measures. Nationally, the firm ranked fifth for pensions, seventh for public power, eighth in higher education, ninth in economic development and ninth in industrial development.
