Dinsmore & Shohl LLP welcomes Joseph P. Pohl III to the firm’s Pittsburgh office. Pohl will practice as a partner in the Litigation Department.

Pohl comes to Dinsmore from Reed Smith, where he represented clients in all phases of commercial litigation in state and federal courts, as well as various alternative dispute resolution settings, including the American Arbitration Association, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and JAMS. His practice focuses on business litigation (both business to business disputes and the defense of consumer litigation, including class actions), financial services, product liability, and estate litigation. Pohl proactively counsels his clients to minimize their litigation risk and resolve disputes through mediation and direct negotiation, and has experience handling internal investigations and regulatory inquiries.

“As a litigator, I want to serve as a problem solver for my clients, and Dinsmore provides a great platform to do that. The firm has strong ties to the Pittsburgh region with a national footprint of multi-disciplinary legal talent, so it was a very attractive choice when I was looking to make a move,” said Pohl.

“Joe will add depth to our litigation bench, and his experience in the Financial Services sector complements many aspects of the work we do here and across the firm. I’m pleased he has joined Dinsmore,” said Anthony Ditka, Pittsburgh Office Managing Partner.

While at Reed Smith, Pohl completed secondments for Bank of America’s Global Wealth and Investment Management group (Merrill Lynch and U.S. Trust) and for The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc.’s government and regulatory enforcement group.

Pohl earned his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law where he graduated magna cum laude and was a member of the Order of the Coif. He received his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame.
