Dinsmore & Shohl is honored to announce that Michael Newman, a partner and chair of the firm’s Labor & Employment Appellate Practice Group, has been named the 2010 recipient of the Federal Bar Association’s (FBA) Elaine R. “Boots” Fisher Public Service Award. This award is given annually to one individual, from across the United States, for his or her “exemplary community, public and charitable service,” and is considered the FBA’s most prestigious national public service honor.

Mr. Newman was selected by the FBA's Committee for his efforts undertaken on behalf of minority law students, his Board of Trustees service for numerous organizations, and his longstanding community volunteer work for the Red Cross, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and the Fine Arts Fund, among many others. In addition, Mr. Newman currently supervises and created Dinsmore & Shohl's Pro Bono Appellate Program.

The Boots Fisher Award will be presented to Mr. Newman at the FBA's annual meeting in New Orleans in late September.
