Dinsmore & Shohl welcomes 20 Fall Associates to the firm. Andrew B. Cassady, Michael T. Dean, Mark B. Gerano, Jenna G. Moran, Gregory A. Ruehlmann, Jr., Grant B. Schweikert, Lauren E. Smith, Nathan B. Spencer and Jay B. Stolkin join the Cincinnati office. Elizabeth A. Cramer and Joshua D. Grossman join the Columbus office. Brett R. Nolan and Lauren L. Weiner join the Lexington office. Justin B. Brown, Daniel D. Briscoe, R. Brooks Herrick, Amir J. Nahavandi and Corinne E. Keel join the Louisville office. Ian G. Henry and Haley S. Hillen join the firm’s West Virginia offices.

Cincinnati
Andrew B. Cassady joins the Cincinnati office, practicing out of the Litigation Department. Cassady served as a Fellow for the Ohio Innocence Project, where he drafted a variety of motions, performed legal research and conducted investigations into multiple cases. He also worked as an immigration intern for Legal Services of Eastern Missouri, where he helped handle a wide-range of immigration-related matters. Cassady earned his J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law, where he was an Associate Member of the University of Cincinnati Law Review. He received his B.A. from Saint Louis University

Michael T. Dean joins the Cincinnati Office, practicing out of the Finance Department. Prior to joining Dinsmore, Dean worked with Peck, Shaffer & Williams, where he assisted with various transactions and analyzed public finance issues throughout Ohio and Kentucky. Dean previously served in the Finance Department of the City of Cincinnati, where his responsibilities included oversight and maintenance of the City’s tax increment financing program. He also worked in the Public Finance Department of the Port of Greater Cincinnati Development Authority. Dean earned his J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law and received his B.A. from Anderson University.

Mark B. Gerano joins the Cincinnati Office, practicing out of the Litigation Department. Prior to joining Dinsmore, Gerano gained valuable experience as an intern for Chief Judge Hon. Larry Merck in the U.S. Department of Labor, where he researched and drafted judicial opinions. He also served as a Fire Lieutenant for the City of Mason and is a former President of the Mason Professional Fire Fighters Association. Gerano earned his J.D. from the Salmon P. Chase College of Law, where he was the Executive Editor of the Northern Kentucky Law Review. He received his B.S. from the University of Cincinnati.
Jenna G. Moran joins the Cincinnati office, practicing out of the Corporate Department. Moran served as an extern for Judge Raymond Mitchell in the Circuit Court of Cook County of the State of Illinois. She also worked as a law clerk for Krieg DeVault, LLP in Chicago where she gained experience in regulatory compliance, pharmacy law, Medicare/Medicaid appeals and reimbursement, and health law litigation. Moran earned her J.D. from DePaul University College of Law, where she was the Symposium Editor of the DePaul Law Review. She received her B.A. from Miami University.

Gregory A. Ruehlmann, Jr. joins the Cincinnati office, practicing out of the Litigation Department. Prior to joining Dinsmore, Greg practiced at Winston & Strawn in Chicago, where he handled a variety of cases in federal, state, and administrative proceedings, including complex commercial matters and internal investigations, as well as white collar and IP litigation. Ruehlmann earned his J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law, where he was a member of the Northwestern University Law Review. He received his M.A. from the University of Chicago and his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame.

Grant B. Schweikert joins the Cincinnati office, practicing out of the Corporate Department. Prior to joining Dinsmore, Schweikert served on active duty for 11 years as a Navy search-and-rescue helicopter pilot, conducting operations on six continents. He also served in the Pentagon, briefing senior military and civilian officials on strategic policy initiatives. Most recently, Schweikert was assigned to a treaty enforcement and negotiation team, working with Russian, Ukrainian and European military personnel to achieve diplomatic objectives in support of the Treaty on Open Skies. He earned his J.D. from George Washington University Law School. Schweikert has an Executive MBA from the Naval Postgraduate School and received his B.S. from the United States Naval Academy.

Lauren E. Smith joins the Cincinnati office, practicing out of the Corporate Department. Prior to joining Dinsmore, she served as an intern in the Fayette County Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs in the U.S. Department of State, and the Kentucky Governor’s Office. Smith earned her J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School, where she was a member of the Vanderbilt Law Review. She received her B.A. from the University of Kentucky.

Nathan B. Spencer joins the Cincinnati office, practicing out of the Litigation Department. Prior to joining Dinsmore, he worked for a construction design company where he analyzed project timelines and delivered results for clients. Spencer earned his J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and received his B.A. from The Ohio State University.

Jay B. Stolkin joins the Cincinnati office, practicing out of the Corporate Department. Prior to joining Dinsmore, Stolkin served as a judicial extern for U.S. District Court Judge Jane Magnus-Stinson in the Southern District of Indiana and U.S. Magistrate Judge Stephanie K. Bowman in the Southern District of Ohio. He also served as a law clerk for the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Stolkin earned his J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law, where he was a member of the Illinois Journal of Law, Technology & Policy. Prior to law school, he served as a campaign manager for a successful Cincinnati City Council campaign and as caseworker and community outreach coordinator for a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. Stolkin received his B.A. from Miami University.

Columbus
Elizabeth A. Cramer joins the Columbus office, practicing out of the Litigation Department. Prior to Dinsmore, Cramer served as an extern in the Office of the Ohio Attorney General and interned for the College of Law’s Entrepreneurship and Community Development Clinic, where she advised non-profits and start-ups. Cramer earned her J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law, where she was an associate member of the University of Cincinnati Law Review. She received her B.A. from the University of Toledo.

Joshua D. Grossman joins the Columbus office, practicing out of the Finance Department. Prior to Dinsmore, Grossman worked for JP Morgan Chase as an associate in financial asset management, where he analyzed and interpreted financial statements and managed a database of financial information. He was also an intern in the finance department of a Toyota dealership, where he handled financing agreements. Grossman earned his J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, where he was a member of the Ohio State Law Journal. He received his B.S. from The Ohio State University.

Lexington
Brett R. Nolan joins the Lexington Office, practicing out of the Litigation Department. He served as an extern for the Honorable Karen K. Caldwell, a United States Chief Judge for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky. Nolan earned his J.D. from University of Chicago Law School, where he was the Comments Editor for the University of Chicago Law Review. He received his B.A. from the University of Kentucky.

Lauren L. Weiner joins the Lexington office, practicing out of the Litigation Department. She gained valuable litigation experience as a Summer Associate for Dinsmore. Weiner earned her J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law, where she was the Notes Editor for the Kentucky Law Journal. Weiner received her B.A. from the University of Dayton.

Louisville
Daniel D. Briscoe joins the Louisville office, practicing out of the Finance Department. Prior to joining Dinsmore, he gained valuable finance experience working on a pricing management project for Ohio State University, and he received a certification in mediation while attending law school. Briscoe earned his J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, where he was a member of the Journal of Dispute Resolution Law Review. He received an M.B.A. from The Ohio State University and has a B.A. from Centre College.

Justin B. Brown joins the Louisville office, practicing out of the Litigation Department. Prior to Dinsmore, Brown served as a military intelligence systems analyst in the Kentucky Army National Guard. He received his training at the United States Army Intelligence Center in Fort Huachuca, Arizona, where he graduated with honors. While attending law school, Brown received a limited license to practice law as part of his involvement with the Robert and Sue Ellen Ackerson Law Clinic, where he worked with victims of domestic violence to obtain court ordered protection and assisted impoverished clients navigating the family court system. Brown earned his J.D. from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law, where he was a member of the University of Louisville Law Review. He received a B.A. from Western Kentucky University.

R. Brooks Herrick joins the Louisville office, practicing out of the Litigation Department. Prior to Dinsmore, he served as an extern for the Honorable Joseph M. Hood, a United States Senior Judge for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky. Herrick earned his J.D. from the University Of Kentucky College Of Law, where he was a member of the Kentucky Law Journal. He received a B.A. from Bellarmine University.

Corinne E. Keel joins the Louisville office, practicing out of the Litigation Department. Prior to Dinsmore, Keel served as a clerk in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Kentucky. She earned her J.D. from Stanford Law School. During her time at Stanford, she was granted a limited license to practice law in California and completed two fulltime clinical programs with the Stanford Community Law Clinic and the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office. Keel also was a volunteer and coordinator with the Stanford Housing Pro Bono Project and the Member Editor for the Stanford Environmental Law Journal. She received her B.A. from the University of Kentucky.

Amir J. Nahavandi joins the Louisville office, practicing out of the Labor and Employment Department. Prior to joining Dinsmore, Nahavandi was an extern with Jim Beam’s in-house counsel, where he worked closely with the Assistant General Counsel. He also worked as a law clerk with an employment firm and as the Deputy Development Director for a 501(c)(3) and (c)(4) organization. Nahavandi earned his J.D. from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law, where he was a member of the University of Louisville Law Review. He received a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Charleston
Ian G. Henry joins the Charleston office, practicing out of the Litigation Department. Prior to joining Dinsmore, Henry interned at the Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office in Ripley. He also has a thorough understanding of finance from his time working as an audit intern for Suttle & Stalmaker PLLC, a CPA firm that provides financial services throughout West Virginia. Henry earned his J.D. from West Virginia University College of Law, where he was the Executive Research Editor of the West Virginia Law Review. Henry also received his B.S. from West Virginia University and is currently sitting for the CPA Exam in West Virginia.

Morgantown
Haley S. Hillen joins the Morgantown office, practicing out of the Corporate Department. Hillen worked as summer associate for two years before joining Dinsmore as an associate attorney. Prior to joining Dinsmore, she was an active participant in student government and participated in the Supreme Court Clinic in law school. Hillen earned her J.D. from the West Virginia University College of Law and also received her B.A. from West Virginia University.
