Dinsmore & Shohl LLP is pleased to announce that attorney Thomas W. Hess was re-elected to the board of directors of the American Board of Medical Specialties for a second three-year term as a public member. Hess, chair of Dinsmore’s health care practice group, was also appointed to serve on the organization’s governance committee.

ABMS is made up of 24 medical specialty member boards and oversees the certification of physician specialists in the United States. To provide advice on decisions affecting the public, the board of directors elects three public members who have relevant experience but no direct relationship to any certifying board or the certification process.

Hess is a partner in Dinsmore’s Columbus office and has more than 35 years of experience representing health care providers before state, federal and administrative courts across the country. Hess, a former deputy attorney general in Ohio, is a frequent speaker on national health care issues.
