J. Tanner Watkins Becomes Chair of the Kentucky Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division

Dinsmore attorney Tanner Watkins was sworn in as Chair of the Kentucky Bar Association’s (KBA) Young Lawyers Division at the 2015 KBA Annual Convention in Lexington, Kentucky.

As Chair, Watkins will lead the Young Lawyers Division’s approximately 1,500 members. He will also serve on the Executive Committee of the KBA’s Board of Governors. The Young Lawyers Division is the largest division of the KBA, and is a leader within the KBA in promoting diversity, as well as assisting the Commonwealth’s young lawyers through CLEs, networking and social activities. It is also very active in Kentucky’s communities through local outreach programs, such as U@18, BullyProof and Project Street Youth.

“I’m extremely excited and humbled for the opportunity to lead the Young Lawyers Division this year. Through our programs, I am confident that we can positively impact not only Kentucky’s legal community, but its residents and its communities in a larger way,” Watkins said.

Watkins is a member of Dinsmore’s Litigation Department. He has extensive experience in state and federal courts, having represented a variety of companies, including banks, financial advisors and trust companies in fiduciary litigation matters. He also represents a number of transportation companies and product manufacturers in personal injury, mass tort, and general tort matters. Watkins’ experience in this type of litigation spans both trial courts and appellate courts.

Watkins received his undergraduate degree from Centre College in 2004 and received his J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law, cum laude, in 2008.
