He has a wide and varied practice with more than 20 years of experience in business and legal issues faced by his clients. In addition to handling mergers and acquisitions and general corporate matters, he has experience negotiating physician employment, recruitment, and financial arrangements; handling peer review and professional licensure matters; registering and licensing intellectual property rights; and resolving federal, state, and local tax matters. By providing a prompt, effective, and cost-conscious approach, Dan’s clients consider him a trusted adviser who truly has their best interest at heart. Having grown up in West Virginia, he believes in giving back and takes an active role in his community.

In 2012, Tom was appointed by the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals as one of four members of the Supreme Court Committee on the Revision of the West Virginia State Bar By-Laws and Rules and Regulations. The committee was charged with undertaking a comprehensive revision of the State Bar By-Laws and Rules and Regulations for submission to, and review by, the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals. The committee concluded its work in the spring of 2017.

Her experience spans virtually every facet of bankruptcy and debtor/creditor law. Janet’s creative thinking process and unique way of looking at problems give her an advantage when negotiating on behalf of her clients. Often, she is able to uncover clever solutions to ensure her clients receive the best outcome for their specific needs. Formerly the director of banking for the Kentucky Department of Financial Institutions, she has experience representing banks and financial institutions in all areas of banking law. Janet is also a Chapter 7 panel trustee for the Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and a member of the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees. As a panel trustee, she has handled over 20,000 bankruptcy matters involving an array of issues.

Dan has tried cases in state court and been successful in obtaining the outright dismissal of a number of matters involving the West Virginia Consumer Credit and Protection Act. He has also been corporate counsel for a variety of entities, leading them through the litigation maze and assisting in the obtaining of bond financing for one client, which exceeded $22 million, and conventional financing for another client that totaled in excess of $15 million.

Tom is a corporate attorney with a practice focusing on banking and securities law and mergers and acquisitions.

He aided in the creation of a new, revised system for the sale of delinquent tax property in West Virginia and has written and lectured on various topics in the areas of real estate, collection, corporate, and bankruptcy law. He has recently represented public and private entities in economic development projects throughout the tri-state area. Chris has also worked extensively to help clients establish efficient, affordable programs for addressing bankruptcy and collection problems. Additionally, he has served as an adjunct faculty member at Marshall University's Community College. Born in Huntington, Chris lived throughout the eastern United States before returning home to commence his legal practice.

She focuses her practice on government relations, insurance, and health care law but litigates on behalf of many sectors. She has legislative and administrative government relations and commercial litigation experience and has been a registered lobbyist in West Virginia for more than 20 years where she has lobbied on behalf of various businesses and industry sectors. Jill currently serves as president of the West Virginia Insurance Federation and is the lead lobbyist for the property and casualty insurance industry in West Virginia. She played a key role in the passage of West Virginia's comprehensive insurance and civil justice reform legislation in 2005 and defends insurers in civil and administrative proceedings involving coverage disputes and claims for common law and statutory bad faith. She maintains an active commercial litigation practice, representing West Virginia businesses ranging from financial institutions to national drug companies to health care providers. She has health care experience, having represented hospitals in antitrust, on-call pay, uninsured billing, medical staff privilege, certificate of need, and rate-setting cases, and routinely deals with clients on day-to-day regulatory matters.

His practice focuses on family wealth planning; asset protection planning; probate; profit and nonprofit business formation and organization; business succession planning; and litigation. He also has experience representing individual and institutional clients in civil litigation, including will contests, will, and trust construction actions, family and probate disputes, real property rights, action to quiet title to minerals, corporate and partnership disputes, and federal and state taxation appeals. Outside of his practice, he is active developing talent within the firm. Josh is a frequent speaker at continuing legal education and similar seminars on estate planning, taxation, and probate topics. He has also served as an adjunct lecturer for the West Virginia University College of Law’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation Law Clinic and for the Nonprofit Organizations class.

His experience includes representing entrepreneurs and growing companies, industrial companies like coal and natural gas producers, lenders and borrowers, and companies through deals and transactions, including formative and governance issues, mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, secured lending, and general business matters. Mike is a registered lobbyist and has extensive experience in legislative and government relations. He has led significant corporate internal investigations. Mike is also a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers and is engaged in public finance and economic development projects in West Virginia. He served as U.S. attorney for the Southern District of West Virginia from 2017 to 2021. His collective and practical experience in business, government, and politics is especially beneficial to his clients.  The son and grandson of West Virginian coal miners, Mike recognizes the value of hard work and is committed to helping the state and its businesses prosper.

His personal experience and background in loan origination serve him well in representing banks and debt collectors in claims brought under the West Virginia Consumer Credit Protection Act, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and various other consumer statutes. Matthew also handles a variety of collection matters, including commercial debt collection and commercial and residential foreclosures. He is active in the community, including volunteering for HeathyTriState.org, which hosts the annual St. Mary’s Marshall Marathon; volunteering for Penny Power, a program that aids needy children; volunteering/coaching with various youth sports in Ceredo/Kenova; and sits on the board of the Ceredo/Kenova Little League, serving as treasurer.

  He has experience with M&A deals around natural resource law, typically reviewing leases, conducting due diligence, and drafting transfer documents. He performs title work for commercial real estate, oil & gas, and coal clients. Clients also come to Bryon for his experience in estate planning. His love of his home state shows in his dedication to education in the area. He speaks to Upward Bound groups, reads to kindergarten students, and helped raise money for a playground at a local elementary school.

He uses his knowledge of corporate governance and the regulatory framework under which individuals and businesses operate to provide strategic business counsel and tax services to a wide variety of clients. Adam advises clients on a number of business matters, including contractual drafting and negotiation, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate formation and reorganization. He leverages his background as an associate at a CPA firm in Huntington to assist clients. Born and raised in Huntington, he is dedicated to the success of the area and wants to utilize his legal knowledge to help clients and their businesses prosper.

With a particular emphasis on commercial finance, his practice involves the representation of lenders in different phases of the loan process, including drafting, reviewing, and modifying loan documents, as well as advising on restructuring issues, and handling foreclosure proceedings. In addition to lender representation, Ian has experience in the areas of corporate structure and governance, corporate transactions, taxation, and a range of real estate development matters. He offers a thorough understanding of accounting and finance enabling him to better serve and counsel clients in a variety of commercial and corporate matters.

In addition, she assists banking institutions with creditors’ rights litigation, real estate transactions including foreclosures, and file reviews, ensuring collateral securing loans are properly secured. Outside of her practice, Paige focuses on mentoring junior associates within the firm and spends time participating in boards aimed at increasing access to outdoor recreational activities for residents of the community.
