Dinsmore Attorneys Honored for Work That Freed Wrongfully Imprisoned Client

Dinsmore partners Kenyon Meyer and Philip Longmeyer were recognized with a Business Impact Award from Louisville Business First, and a prestigious Champion for Justice award by the Louisville Bar Association (LBA). Both recognitions honor their work in successfully representing an indigent defendant in a federal murder case. Before Phil and Kenyon got involved, the client had spent five years in prison for a crime he did not commit.

The Business Impact Award recognizes companies that have taken extraordinary measures to assist their employees or community.

Their work on the case also earned them the Louisville Bar Association’s Daniel M. Alvarez Champion for Justice Award. This honor is given to attorneys who demonstrate a strong devotion to serving underrepresented individuals or groups by giving a legal voice to those who would otherwise be voiceless.

The awards were written about in Bar Briefs, LBA’s monthly magazine, and cited quotes from Kenyon and Phil’s nomination saying, “This case was not just a legal challenge; it was a human one. In a time when public trust in institutions is fragile, this case is a reminder of what’s possible when skilled attorneys commit themselves fully to justice. It’s a story of perseverance, integrity and the power of a team that refused to let the odds define the outcome.”
