Jo is litigation attorney based out of our Charleston, WV office. In her commercial litigation practice, Jo focuses on representing financial institutions and mortgage servicers in high-stakes litigation, including contract disputes, regulatory enforcement actions, and consumer protection claims. She is adept at navigating complex commercial disputes and helping clients manage risk in an evolving legal and regulatory environment. While her practice focuses on representing financial institutions, she also has experience assisting clients with commercial-vehicle accidents, legal malpractice, tort liability, and a variety of other civil litigation.
Before joining Dinsmore, Jo clerked for Judge Frank W. Volk, of the U.S. District for the Southern District of West Virginia, where she honed her legal research and writing skills, assisting in the preparation of judicial opinions and tackling intricate legal issues. She further expanded her legal experience through a secondment to serve as counsel for the West Virginia House Judiciary Committee for the 86th Regular Legislative session. In this role, she advised the committee on legislative matters and gained a thorough understanding of the intersection between law, policy, and government oversight.
Jo is known for her sharp analytical abilities, strategic thinking, and dedication to delivering results-driven legal solutions. Whether representing clients in court or advising on pre-litigation strategy, she is committed to protecting her clients’ interests and ensuring successful outcomes.
When she’s not practicing law, Jo is passionate about staying involved in the community. She is a member of the Charleston Chapter of the Junior League, sings with WomanSong Chorale, and breeds and shows American Saddlebred horses.
