Dinsmore & Shohl’s Labor & Employment Department is undergoing a momentous shift in leadership to begin the new decade, as Allison Goico is taking the helm as department chair, and Faith Whittaker has been named the new employment practice group chair. With Goico and Whittaker, the department leadership is growing dramatically younger and more diverse.

As department chair, Goico has also earned a seat on Dinsmore’s board of directors and is also on Dinsmore’s Executive Committee. Goico earned her J.D. at Harvard Law School following a B.A. from Williams College.

After beginning her career in Chicago, she joined Dinsmore in 2011 following a move to Cincinnati. During her time at Dinsmore, she has represented clients in employment matters across the country, including in class and collective action matters.

“I’m thrilled to be stepping into this role,” Goico said. “We have great visibility already, and I plan to keep that up. We are always looking to attract the next generation of talent, and I’m excited to do that with leadership that looks like the next generation already.”

Whittaker has spent her entire professional career with Dinsmore, having joined in 2007 following her time as a summer associate. She was elected to the firm’s partnership in 2015 and is heavily involved in the firm, serving as social chair, a member of the business development committee, former chair of the firm’s United Way campaign, and she is the founder and chair of the Cincinnati Women’s Initiative, among other internal commitments. She has extensive experience in all facets of employment law, including counseling and litigating.

In 2019, Forbes named Dinsmoreto its list of top-29 labor and employment firms in America. Goico and Whittaker plan to further extend the Labor & Employment Department’s reach nationally by continuing to grow the group in key markets, with a deliberate focus on building diversity and expanding upon the extensive expertise of the current attorneys.

“We have an incredibly talented group of employment attorneys at Dinsmore who are also really great people,” Whittaker said. “We have a very skilled group that understands the importance of client relationships and adding value to our clients’ businesses.”

Outside the office, Goico serves on the Board of Directors of Adopt a Class and is also involved with the activities of her two school-aged daughters. Whittaker, who danced ballet from kindergarten through college, serves on the Cincinnati Ballet Board of Trustees. She is also on the Cincinnati Bar Association Executive Committee and Board of Trustees and was the 2016 recipient of Northern Kentucky University Chase College of Law’s Outstanding Alumna of the Past Decade award.
