Former Am Law 50 counsel rejoins Dinsmore to deepen the Firm’s corporate, private equity and ESOP capabilities and help drive the next phase of strategic growth.
Dinsmore & Shohl LLP announced today that Chase A. Tweel has returned to the Firm as a partner, bringing more than 15 years of sophisticated executive compensation, employee benefits, M&A and private equity transaction experience gained at one of the nation’s most respected law firms.
“We are excited to welcome Chase back ‘home’ to our Firm,” said Corporate Department Chair Greg Kaskey. “His extensive and deep knowledge of ERISA and employee benefits law enhances our ability to provide sophisticated, practical counsel to our clients that are navigating an increasingly complex regulatory landscape.”
With broad experience in compensation and benefits, Chase regularly advises public and privately-held companies, boards, compensation committees and executives on equity- and cash-based incentive arrangements, nonqualified deferred compensation, employment and separation agreements, severance programs, change-in-control protections and other compensation and benefits-related matters. He also regularly addresses these matters in mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, private equity investments and other corporate transactions. In many M&A transactions, Chase designs, negotiates and implements management incentive and rollover vehicles (as well as management liquidity programs in connection with debt and equity financings and reorganizations).
Chase’s return provides additional support to Dinsmore’s nationally recognized Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) practice, which he worked closely with during his previous tenure at the Firm. His experience in ERISA, executive compensation and transactional matters will complement the Firm’s work for companies, owners, fiduciaries, lenders and other stakeholders pursuing employee ownership and business succession strategies.
Prior to rejoining Dinsmore, Chase practiced at a New York-based international law firm, where a significant portion of his work involved supporting M&A and private equity transactions. He advised clients on employee benefits and compensation issues that frequently arise during acquisitions, dispositions and other strategic transactions.
“Returning to Dinsmore at this point in the Firm’s growth is an especially compelling opportunity,” Chase said. “I am incredibly excited to bring my experience back to Dinsmore, work alongside colleagues I know and admire, and play a leading role in the continued development of the Firm’s executive compensation and employee benefits capabilities.”
Chase earned his LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center, his J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law and his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He will be based in Dinsmore’s Washington, D.C. office.
