National law firm Dinsmore & Shohl LLP is adding bench strength to its corporate and transactional department with the arrival of Patrick Clancy, who joins the Firm’s Chicago office as a partner. Pat brings more than a decade of experience advising clients on real estate transactions, commercial contracts and corporate governance.

Pat’s practice centers on advising clients buying, selling and leasing commercial properties, along with drafting and negotiating the related operating agreements, joint venture documents and governance materials that support those deals. His clients range from real estate sponsors, investors and business owners expanding into new facilities. “It’s exciting to help clients bring their vision to life,” Pat said. “Whether it’s a new warehouse for a company’s expansion or a multi-unit investment, I enjoy being a partner and playing a small part in helping clients continue to grow.”

Known for his fast-paced, hands-on approach, Pat thrives on keeping deals moving and avoiding last-minute hiccups. He enjoys the urgency of the work and quick decision making that keeps important items from falling through the cracks.

“We are so excited for Pat to join the Dinsmore family,” said Dinsmore Corporate Chair Greg Kaskey. “With his wealth of experience in the commercial real estate space, he not only strengthens our already robust national real estate practice, but also further solidifies our full-service presence in Chicago.”

On his move to Dinsmore, Pat says he was attracted by the opportunity to expand his practice and introduce his clients to additional services offered across the Firm’s national footprint. “I really liked the direction Dinsmore is heading—not just nationally, but in Chicago and in the real estate market here. It felt like the right time and the right place to grow together.”

Pat graduated with a B.B.A in Business Administration and Accounting from St. Norbert College. He earned his Juris Doctor from the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association and American Bar Association.
