Ivan Bilaniuk Explains Business Implications of Supreme Court’s Tariff Decision

A recent article by The Business Journals explores what business owners need to know after the United States Supreme Court ruled that the tariffs President Donald Trump enacted under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) were illegal.

In the article, Dinsmore International Trade and Regulatory Compliance Partner Ivan Bilaniuk talks about how, in the wake of the ruling, business owners should be in touch with their customs brokers and their trade attorneys.

“[Owners] should track the dates on which their [import] entries were liquidated or finalized,” Ivan said. “To preserve their right for a potential refund in the future, they should consider filing requests for post-summary corrections for unliquidated entries or protests for liquidated entries within 180 days from liquidation. It may turn out to be necessary to file a lawsuit in the Court of International Trade, but that is not yet clear.”
