Dinsmore is pleased to announce that prominent Pittsburgh estate planning and wealth preservation attorney Nicolas Sasso has joined the firm as a partner. Nic counsels high-net-worth individuals and families on sophisticated estate and tax planning matters, business succession strategies, charitable giving, special needs planning, and trust and estate administration.
“Dinsmore’s national footprint, its deep experience across the range of practices areas, and its support of entrepreneurial attorneys are exactly the qualities I was looking for to grow my practice,” Nic said. “I’m excited to show my clients what we can accomplish together.”
Nic’s practice focuses on helping individuals, families and closely held businesses preserve wealth through strategic and tax-efficient planning. He advises clients on navigating post-SECURE Act IRA planning challenges through innovative charitable planning techniques and has guided numerous family-owned businesses through successful multigenerational transitions, including the use of Employee Ownership Trusts (EOTs), ESOPs and other employee ownership transactions, while advising selling owners on related pre-and post-transaction tax planning techniques designed to preserve, protect, and transition family wealth.
The United States is in the early stages of what analysts have dubbed the “Silver Tsunami”, the historic transfer wealth from the Baby Boomer generation. Dinsmore continues to strategically deepen its Trusts and Estates bench to help clients navigate this unprecedented transition.
“We have been recruiting Nic for years and we are so happy to have him join our firm,” said Dinsmore Corporate Partner Jim Carlisle. “Nic is a skilled technician who will help our firm’s clients optimize their estate plans.”
Nic’s experience includes sophisticated inter vivos and testamentary planning, with an emphasis on generation-skipping transfer tax strategies, grantor retained annuity trusts (GRATs), timed defective trust funding and beneficiary deemed owner trust toggle provisions designed to address complex estate, gift and income tax considerations.
Nic also advises athletes, business owners, media personalities and other high-profile individuals on privacy protection strategies, including the use of blind trust ownership structures.
In addition to his practice, Sasso is deeply committed to pro bono service. His honors include the Ohio Northern Pro Bono Service Recognition Award, the 18th Judicial District of Arkansas Volunteer Attorney of the Year Award, and the Legal Aid of Arkansas Pro Bono Service Award.
