Dinsmore & Shohl LLP continues its growth in major markets today with the addition of Chicago litigation and advisory firm Galarnyk & Associates Ltd. The announcement follows news of the Firm’s highest revenue year to date and the third consecutive year of sustained growth since Joshua Lorentz began his term as managing partner.
Led by founding partner John Galarnyk, this new team brings decades of combined experience representing businesses, families and individuals in complex civil, regulatory and criminal matters nationwide. For more than 35 years, Galarnyk & Associates has maintained a sophisticated practice spanning commercial and corporate litigation, business fraud, employment law, real estate disputes, directors and officers matters, and government investigations, including white‑collar criminal defense, serving clients across a broad range of industries.
“John brings years of complex litigation experience both locally and nationwide,” said Chicago Office Managing Partner Matthew Wasserman. “His team further strengthens our Chicago litigation practice and fits seamlessly with Dinsmore’s collaborative culture.”
For John and his team, the move reflects a shared commitment to people and long‑term client relationships. “What impressed me most throughout that process was not just the efficiency, but the consistency of the people and the culture at every level,” John said. “It reinforced that this was a firm that truly understood both the practice we had built and the importance of preserving and expanding it. Joining Dinsmore allows us to continue serving our clients with the same attention and urgency they expect, while expanding the resources and services available to them.”
As part of Dinsmore’s national, full‑service platform, the team’s clients gain seamless access to attorneys across a broad range of practice areas, including labor and employment, commercial litigation, transactional, banking, real estate, construction, estate planning and tort litigation defense. “As our practice continues to grow, we are seeing an increasing volume of work and in additional jurisdictions where Dinsmore already has established offices and resources,” John said.
John earned his Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago and holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he was an NCAA Division I wrestler. He also completed a Certificate in Investigations and Prevention of Commercial Fraud from Northwestern University’s School of Continuing Studies.
Also joining Dinsmore are associates Dani Scudder and Jad M. Alamuddin, along with law clerk Dhruvi A. Patel. Dani focuses on civil and commercial litigation, including business disputes and contract matters, and earned her J.D., cum laude, from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. Jad concentrates on commercial litigation and business matters and previously gained in‑house experience with Portillo’s legal department. He earned his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law.
