January 1, 2023News Releases

Dinsmore is pleased to announce that Joshua Lorentz has been elected as the firm’s next chair and managing partner effective January 1, 2023. Based in Dinsmore’s Cincinnati office, Josh has been with the firm for more than two decades, and takes over from George Vincent who led the firm for nearly fifteen years.

Demand from a thriving client base continues to lead Dinsmore to strategically add offices in new markets to better meet their needs. This has created a dynamic team of over 750 attorneys in 29 offices from coast to coast. Josh looks forward to accelerating “this upward trajectory” of growth created by George’s leadership and has his sights set on achieving that through mergers, lateral acquisition and organic growth.

Coinciding with Josh’s election, Dinsmore is excited to announce a merger with San Diego firm Mulvaney Barry Beatty Linn & Mayers LLP. The merger, which became official on January 1, 2023, will add 10 attorneys and a team of eight business professionals to Dinsmore’s southern California offices. Mulvaney’s 50-year history of solid performance and stability made the merger a logical business decision.

“Dinsmore’s work ethic and creative problem solving have positioned us as a leading firm in our 29 regional markets,” Josh said. “Our fair pricing and practical business solutions have led to a growing number of national clients turning to Dinsmore for their comprehensive legal needs. We are an attractive proposition for merger candidates and this merger solidifies our bench strength on the west coast.”

Josh has been the driver behind the successful growth of the firm’s IP practice, which has expanded to more than 100 attorneys in 17 offices. The team handles a broad range of IP issues for a growing number of household names and emerging businesses. Josh is a strong proponent of building talented and diverse teams and advocating for their professional development, fueling the IP team’s success. In 2022, Dinsmore earned its Mansfield 5.0 certification and received the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity’s Top Performer and Compass awards, while also being recognized by BTI Consulting as a 2022 Associate and Women Associate Satisfaction A-Lister.

In his new role as managing partner, Josh will continue to make clients the focal point of the firm. “Our success is driven by focusing on what we do best, without regard to how everyone else is doing it,” Josh said. “Our clients tell us they keep coming back because our attorneys are business people who create legal solutions that work for their businesses.”
