Emerson focuses his practice on patent preparation and prosecution, also assisting clients with validity investigations, infringement opinions, and design-around strategies. He is one of only a handful of attorneys in the US that are both a licensed patent attorney and an accredited petroleum engineer.

Prior to joining the firm, Emerson worked as a production, artificial lift, and field frac engineer for multiple Fortune 500 Oilfield Companies. Consequently, Emerson has an extensive background in the geophysical, mechanical, and chemical engineering disciplines. His practice encompasses a wide range of technologies including upstream and downstream oil & gas processes, downhole tool design, chemical refining, catalyst chemistry, automotive, medical devices, consumer appliances, and firearms.
