Julian P. Pecora is a litigator who represents businesses, insurers, railroads, financial institutions, healthcare providers, and individuals in complex civil litigation throughout West Virginia, Kentucky, and beyond. His practice includes commercial disputes, tort litigation, creditors’ rights and debt collection litigation, medical and pharmaceutical malpractice, construction litigation, transportation and railroad litigation, estate and trust litigation, including will contests, fiduciary and beneficiary disputes, and other contested probate matters, bankruptcy-related litigation, and appellate advocacy.
Julian has represented several Fortune 500 companies in matters involving substantial financial exposure and complex legal issues. He has experience representing clients in the state and federal courts of West Virginia and Kentucky, as well as in courts and tribunals in other jurisdictions across the country. His work has included high-value bankruptcy litigation in California, sophisticated commercial disputes, construction matters, creditors’ rights and debt collection litigation, medical and pharmaceutical malpractice cases, and high-dollar estate and trust litigation, including will contests, fiduciary and beneficiary disputes. As part of litigation teams, he has helped recover eight-figure settlements and judgments in complex commercial disputes.
His appellate experience includes matters before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals.
Throughout his practice, Julian has handled all phases of litigation, including case strategy, written discovery, corporate representative and fact witness depositions, motion practice, evidentiary hearings, mediations, trial preparation, and appeals. He regularly works with corporate counsel, insurers, healthcare providers, financial institutions, and business leaders to develop practical litigation strategies and efficiently resolve complex disputes.
Beyond his legal practice, Julian is actively engaged in business, civic, and international leadership. He serves as Vice President of the Atlantik-Brücke New Bridge Alumni Council, where he works with business, government, and nonprofit leaders to strengthen transatlantic relationships between the United States and Germany.
Julian founded Counsel Connections and MeetUp West Virginia and co-founded MeetUp 64 and MeetUp Tri-State, professional networking initiatives that bring together attorneys, judges, executives, entrepreneurs, public officials, and community leaders from across West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio, and beyond to foster meaningful relationships and collaboration.
His leadership and involvement with business, legal, and public-sector organizations provide him with a broad perspective on the legal, economic, regulatory, and political environments in which companies and institutions operate. He brings that understanding to his practice by helping clients navigate complex disputes with practical, business-focused solutions.
Julian has been recognized for his professional and community leadership through numerous honors, including being named to the State Journal 40 Under 40, receiving the Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce Rising Star Award, and being recognized among Huntington Quarterly’s Five Under 35.
Julian’s academic background is impressive. He earned his J.D. from West Virginia University College of Law, graduating in the top 12% of his class and was the best student in six of his classes. Each year he was awarded for having outstanding leadership and character. While in law school, he studied abroad in Geneva, Switzerland. He was a federal summer law clerk for Judge Michael J. Aloi for the Northern District of West Virginia and a Rule 10 attorney for the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of West Virginia. He was a member of the United States Supreme Court Clinic where he was one the authors of a successful brief submitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the designated presenter had oral argument been requested.
Julian is an alumnus of two prestigious national programs: the United States Senate Youth Program and American Legion Boys Nation, where he met President Obama twice at the White House and was featured on CSPAN. During college, Julian addressed the West Virginia House of Delegates while interning for the state legislature, showcasing his early commitment to public service. He was later selected to represent the United States as a young professional leader in Germany, the EU, and NATO through the Atlantik-Brücke New Bridge Program Fellowship, becoming only the second West Virginian to receive this honor.
