Sean D. Thomas

Biography

Sean focuses his practice on labor and employment law. He counsels clients ranging from small business to national and international companies on issues involving workplace injuries, retaliation claims, the Family Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, and the West Virginia Human Rights Act. Sean has experience defending employers against charges filed with the West Virginia Human Rights Commission and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, as well as, defending clients through class actions and multidistrict litigation. Sean has assisted clients in implementing Paid Family Leave programs and handled matters in state and federal court, both throughout the country.

He attended the West Virginia University College of Law, where he served as a member of the West Virginia Law Review and United States Supreme Court Litigation Clinic. Sean’s work with the clinic led to a unanimous victory before the U.S. Supreme Court in a case involving the intergovernmental tax immunity doctrine.
