Equine Industry

Our attorneys provide services to the horse industry participants by drawing on our experience working with racetracks, horse show operators and boarding, training and breeding operations, as well as trainers, owners and elite riders. Our team has a thorough knowledge of the equine industry, enabling us to anticipate challenges and steer our clients toward solutions.

Strongly rooted in the equine industry, our team, which includes the chair of the National Equine Law Conference and a member of the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Horse Council, consists of attorneys who have helped clients in a variety of matters, including the formation and structure of racing partnerships; the syndication and sale of stallions and other bloodstock interests and elite hunters, jumpers and other sport horses; the negotiation and acquisition of horse show dates; and the acquisition and sale of numerous commercial horse farms. We also assist clients with racetrack issues, media contracts, merchandising, import and export matters, and litigation of all types, including racing commission and United States Equestrian Federation hearings.

Our work extends outside of the racetrack and show ring, as our attorneys are frequent contributors to various publications and educational forums, including being published in Business Lexington, the Lane Report and Pony Club News and quoted in The New York Times, the Toronto Globe & Mail, The Blood-Horse, the Thoroughbred Times, and the Lexington Herald-Leader.

Our Equine Law Group’s knowledge and experience enables our team to become a trusted resource and partner for our equine industry clients, helping our clients focus on the important things – whether that may be a graded stakes race, an FEI grand prix competition or a trail ride in the countryside.
