Dinsmore’s Nick Transier Appointed to Lead Firm’s San Diego Office

After a year in which it expanded its presence in California by merging with Mulvaney Barry Beatty Linn & Mayers LLP, as well as attracted new talent to its Los Angeles office, national law firm Dinsmore & Shohl LLP announces a new chapter in San Diego with the appointment of Nick Transier to office managing partner.

A market-leading patent attorney and former systems engineer for two Fortune 500 companies, Nick assumes the leadership position on Monday. He takes over from Joe Leventhal who has led the establishment of Dinsmore as a trusted community partner on the West Coast, and has grown the office exponentially to enhance its client service offerings. With his fresh perspectives, insatiable curiosity and collaborative reputation among peers and clients alike, Nick is primed to drive the Firm’s continued growth in Southern California.

“Nick has consistently advanced in his career by prioritizing and nurturing relationships,” said Dinsmore managing partner Joshua Lorentz. “We are confident that Nick will be a champion for the nearly 40 exceptional attorneys and business professionals who round out his team in San Diego, in the same way he vigorously defends the innovations and ideas of his intellectual property clients.”

Dinsmore’s San Diego office has thrived, tripling in attorney headcount since its establishment in 2015. The office vastly expanded its service offerings in southern California in 2023 by welcoming the 10-attorney Mulvaney team. With strategic growth on a nationwide scale a focus for the Firm, the San Diego merger was followed by office openings in Orlando, Miami and Houston, respectively and the addition of an employment team headed by Rachel McClintock in California.

Regularly sought after by leading corporations to handle complex litigation, intellectual property, business restructuring, labor and employment and complicated commercial lending and real estate matters, the San Diego team is also closely connected to the community through a variety of service projects and volunteer initiatives.

“I joined Dinsmore nearly two years ago as part of Dinsmore’s significant investment in the West Coast,” Nick said. “Our San Diego office has grown meaningfully since that time and we are fortunate to be serving an exciting and diverse group of San Diego and California-based clients today. I’m eager to take on my new role and to support continued growth in my San Diego colleagues’ practice areas. And to that end, I’d love to hear from any San Diego attorneys looking to join our great team.”
