Research Librarian

Cincinnati, OH

A motivated individual who provides expert legal research assistance to the attorney population as well as other admin groups as need be, including but not limited to caselaw, public records, litigation history, business information, and other services as needed.

Essential Functions

  • Provide cost effective research and reference assistance to the firm’s attorneys
  • Promote and publicize library resources, services, and new products
  • Analyze firm’s information needs to improve services and processes
  • Serve as key point of contact for specific resources
  • Provide library resource training to new and lateral hire attorneys
  • Ability to juggle and prioritize working on multiple projects at once
  • Process library invoices for accounting
  • Process and catalog new library resources

    This position includes traditional legal secretarial responsibilities such as reviewing and communicating docket to attorneys and paralegals, creating new files, maintaining calendars, and general administrative duties.

    Requirements

    • 5+ years of legal secretary experience
    • Exceptional organizational skills
    • Excellent technical and communication skills
    • Ability to type 65 wpm
    • Attention to detail with top-notch proofreading skills
    • Proven success as a positive team player as well as an independent worker
    • Ability to multi-task and balance multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
    • Motivation and enthusiasm about the opportunity to work with multiple attorneys in a fast-paced practice
    • Reviewing and organizing files, reviewing docket for deadlines
    • Prioritizing workload to meet foreign filing deadlines and due dates
    • Preparing and reviewing appropriate correspondence from foreign associates and to clients and associates regarding new applications, formal requirements, filing details, etc.
    • Assisting in filing of U.S. and PCT patent applications, both electronically and paper (including preparation and review of necessary filing documents)
    • Tracking chain of title in U.S. patents and ability to perfect same
    • Communication with the USPTO and relevant knowledge regarding the USPTO databases
