Dinsmore & Shohl LLP has welcomed Shannon O’Connell Egan to its Cincinnati office. With more than 20 years of experience, she joins Dinsmore’s litigation practice group from Cincinnati-based Graydon.

“I am excited to join Dinsmore and reunite with a team of people I previously worked with,” Egan said. “We have an opportunity to leave a bigger footprint. Dinsmore has offices in almost 30 markets. By practicing in more states, I join a team that ultimately makes a larger impact.”

And she’s making an impact locally during the COVID-19 pandemic as well by sewing masks. Sewing is a skill she taught herself to honor her mother.

“My mother loved quilts, and it’s something I decided to pick up,” Egan said. “In recent weeks, I’ve started sewing face masks.”

So far, she’s made about 30 masks, mostly for family and friends, but a local doctor’s office has asked for her assistance making personal protective equipment (PPE) for its staff.

While at Graydon, Egan was a member of diversity and inclusion initiatives and mentored junior attorneys. Egan was also chief Kentucky litigation counsel for a national financial institution while at Lerner, Sampson & Rothfuss, LPA. She’s handled civil litigation and dispute resolution with a concentration in lender-liability defense and creditors’ rights. Prior to her firm work, Egan gained experience from positions with Legal Aid of the Bluegrass and the Northern Kentucky Legal Aid Society.

She is the vice president of the Northern Kentucky Bar Association. Egan is also chair of Adopt-A-Book, a Cincinnati-based nonprofit providing books to at-risk children in Southwest Ohio, as well as a board member of The Brighton Center.

A native Tennessean, she moved to Cincinnati shortly after she graduated with her J.D. from Louisiana State University in 1998. She earned her B.A. at the University of Louisville.
