Male Allyship
In your opinion, what is the primary responsibility of a male ally with respect to challenging the status quo and facilitating the forward progress of women in all areas of society?
In what is still, despite recent advancements, a male-dominated industry, I feel that it is my responsibility to mentor, sponsor, and advocate for the fair treatment and advancement of women both internally and externally. As the majority, it is essential that men act as a voice for equality. Additionally, those in leadership positions have an obligation to provide equal opportunity to female members within their office and/or practice group to take on important assignments, fill leadership roles, and grow on a trajectory equivalent to their male counterparts. Further, it is essential that mentorship be provided equally and not just to people who look like you, which means making a concerted effort to sponsor and lift-up both minority and female attorneys.
