Ivan’s presentation provided the legal background for the US-China trade war focusing on Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974 and discussed the USTR exclusion process to apply for products to be exempted from Section 301 tariffs on goods imported from China and the importance of reviewing HTSUS codes for imported products to confirm the correct classification of goods and other tariff mitigation measures such as: supply chain reengineering and country of origin analysis; tariff reengineering by importing components; customs duty preference; bonded warehouses, etc.
