December 19, 2022News Releases

Dinsmore & Shohl LLP is pleased to welcome international arbitration lawyer* and consultant Francisco Victoria-Andreu to the Firm’s international dispute resolution practice.

Francisco brings more than 20 years of international commercial and investment arbitration experience to Dinsmore having worked throughout Latin America, Europe, the United Kingdom, as well as North and West Africa. A native of Mexico, who spent two decades practicing international arbitration in Paris, Francisco is fully trilingual in English, Spanish and French. He also has a strong command of the Portuguese and Italian languages.

A bar admission in Mexico gives Francisco the ability to represent clients throughout that entire country. Francisco’s international experience will strongly complement the practices of Washington D.C.-based partner Ivan W. Bilaniuk, who heads Dinsmore’s international dispute resolution practice, as well as its international trade and regulatory compliance practice.

“Francisco adds extraordinary depth to the Firm’s international disputes practice, especially with his expertise in investment arbitration.  He also expands the geographic reach of our practice to Latin America and francophone countries.” Ivan said. “It is special to have this kind of pedigree benefitting our clients.”

Because of his international arbitration expertise, Francisco has been called on to train government officials in two Latin American countries and he has served as a lecturer at various institutions. Notably, Francisco is a member of the Committee of Arbitration of the Organization for the Harmonization of Business Law in the Caribbean (OHADAC Arbitration Rules) and is former vice president of the Association des Juristes Franco Latino-américains Andrés Bello in France (The Andrés Bello Association of Franco-Latin American Jurists).

“I’m honored to join Dinsmore, one of the best law firms in the Midwest and expanding,” Francisco said. “It’s a tremendous opportunity to associate with the international dispute resolution practice headed by Ivan Bilaniuk and its impressive client list.”

Francisco earned his J.D. from the University of the Americas Puebla (Fundación Universidad de las Américas Puebla). He has master’s degrees in Diplomacy and International Relations from Université de Paris XI (France) and Ecole Nationale d’Administration (France). He also has an LL.M. in U.S. Law from the University of Cincinnati College of Law, where he received the Outstanding Student Award.
