Jacob P. Guerra

Biography

Jake is a dedicated civil litigator who provides clients with strategic, cost-effective solutions in complex disputes. His practice focuses on first-party and third-party insurance litigation as well as commercial litigation, benefiting his clients with deep experience across multiple areas of law.

In his first-party work, Jake defends insurers in state and federal courts against breach of contract and bad faith claims, taking a proactive approach that helps clients minimize risk while saving time and resources. Jake also represents large companies, small businesses, and individuals in disputes involving negligence, premises liability, breach of contract, and consumer protection claims under Pennsylvania’s Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law. His experience extends to defending local government agencies, including volunteer fire companies and police departments, against tort claims and alleged constitutional violations, ensuring these entities receive strong, knowledgeable advocacy.

Since securing a favorable verdict at his first trial in 2023, Jake has continued to gain experience at all stages of litigation, including alternative dispute resolution. Additionally, Jake serves as an arbitrator in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, giving him insight into how cases are evaluated and resolved. Earlier in his legal career, Jake interned for Judge Gregory L. Taddonio of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, gaining valuable insight into judicial decision-making and courtroom procedure.
